4. Browse to the directory into which you extracted the boot code file. Select the file to download
and click OK. During downloading, the HBA in the discovery tree is displayed in red text,
indicating that it is offline. It is displayed in black text when the update is complete.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to load boot code on additional HBAs.
6. Enable the boot code. If it is already enabled when you boot the system (Firmware tab, button
title is Disable - see Figure 25), skip to step 8. Otherwise, continue with step 7.
7. Click Enable. The button title changes from Enable to Disable.
8. For OpenBoot, follow the instructions in “Create a Fibre Channel Remote Boot Disk” on page 53.
Load Boot Code Image Using Batch Mode
Downloading boot code in batch mode allows you to install boot code on multiple HBAs in a single step.
Batch loading is restricted to a single file.
To load boot code using batch mode:
1. Start HBAnyware: su to root and run the following script:
/usr/sbin/hbanyware/hbanyware
2. From the menu bar, select Batch and click Download Firmware.
3. When the Select Firmware File dialog box is displayed, browse to locate and select the boot
code file to download.
4. Click Open. A tree-view appears showing all HBAs and their corresponding hosts for which the
selected file is compatible.
5. Click the check boxes next to the HBAs you want to select for batch processing. Click selected
check boxes to remove them from the batch process. You can also click the check box next to a
host to select or remove all eligible HBAs for that host (Figure 26).

6. After the HBAs are selected, click Start Download. After downloading begins, the tree-view
displays the progress. As the file for a selected HBA is being downloaded, it appears orange in
the tree-view. After completion, the entry for the HBA changes to green if the download
succeeded or red if the download failed.
Note: If the boot code message state on the board has changed, it is reflected immediately
on the Details tab.
Note: No other HBAnyware functions can be performed while batch firmware loading is in
progress.
